Sonam Kapoor attended the premiere of “Loving” at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival in yet another Ralph and Russo Haute Couture gown. Just like yesterday, today also the dramatic cape of the gown created a magnificent look on the red carpet. She completed the look with a statement neck-piece from Bulgari.
Yes, we need drama on the Cannes red carpet, but I am not too sure about this. This is extreme, or is she trying too hard? Aishwarya Rai wore a beautiful Rami Kadi gown at the premiere of “From the Land of the Moon” at the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival. But, it was not the off shoulder gown, but her Lavender painted lips that took away the attention from what she was wearing. To me she looked quite hypothermic and sorry people she must be the one of the most beautiful women in the world, but that shade of Lavender lips didn’t complement her beauty or her personality.
So here we have the first images - courtesy, Rhea Kapoor’s Instagram, Sonam Kapoor is all set to slay the Cannes 2016 red carpet in this extremely gorgeous custom Ralph and Russo Haute Couture gown. The cape of the dramatic pearl white gown almost looked like a sari pallu from behind. For me this is again a red carpet winner. BIG LOVE!
I am so glad Sonam Kapoor picked this unconventional metallic wire pallu sari by Rimzim Dadu for her media interactions at the ongoing 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival. The fluid yet structured electric blue sari was in my Cannes 2016 wish list and who else can wear it better than the fashionista herself. She completed the look with a simple and sleek hairdo and earrings from Suhani Pittie. Stunning! You won it girl!
For her second outing today on the red carpet, at the premiere of “The BFG (LeBon Gros Geant Le BGG)” ,Aishwarya Rai wore an embellished Elie Saab Fall 2014 gown. The intricate details of the pearl strewn organza gown oozed the required red carpet luxury. She completed the look with her dark lips, signature side curls and a gorgeous neckpiece - Ash looked glamorous. But, did she offer anything new? Or, am I the only one having a major déjà vu moment?
As a brand ambassador of L’oreal, Aishwarya Rai attended the media interview at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival 2016 in a red Naeem Khan Resort 2016 gown. The ruffled skirt and the fringe details of the top added an element of elegant drama. Her red lips and signature curls complemented the beauty of the tulle gown. Do you like?
For me this year Blake Lively is already a winner of the red carpet at the 69th Cannes Film Festival. On day three, while attending the premiere of “Slack Bay” at the ongoing film festival on the French Riviera, Blake wore a stunning fairy-tale worthy Vivienne Westwood couture gown that featured a dramatic tiered skirt and a floral embellished bodice.
So here we go people, one of the most anticipated moments. For her first appearance this year, Aishwarya shimmered in Ali Younes beaded couture gown while attending the premiere of ‘Ma Loute’ at the ongoing 69th Cannes Film Festival. There is no denying that with her intricately beaded gown, especially the flowing cape she looked opulent, however the question is – Is this the best? No, it didn’t impress me much; in spite of all the regal drama there was something rather dull about her overall look. And, as you can see the gown didn’t do much for her figure either.
Amal Clooney channeled old Hollywood glamour in gorgeous thigh high Atelier Versace gown while attending the premiere of her husband’s movie “Money Monster” during the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival. The flowy train of the soft yellow one shoulder silk chiffon gown swayed behind her and created a beautiful drama on the red carpet.

People say judge a person by their shoes, but what if you go barefoot. It’s been only two days and Cannes red carpet 2016 has already shown an interesting ‘trend’ of going barefoot. When Kristen Stewart to Julia Robert went barefoot on the prestigious red carpet with their head held high, is it comfort over style or is it the new trend? Let’s see how many ladies out there will make such bold step by keeping comfort over fashion. All that I have to say - Bring it on girls!

When everyone is posing their best at Cannes our eyes went on to this beauty who gave us some serious classic Hollywood look. Yes, we are taking about Kirsten Dunst and her series of out-of-the box designer opinion and clearly we love it. Let’s check her out.
Returning to her go-to designer, Julianne Moore wore a heavily sequined Givenchy Couture gown at the premiere of “Cafe Society” during the opening gala of the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival. In spite of its interesting Cobra embroidery and fishtail the overall look didn’t impress me much. I felt the gown looked too busy. What say people?
Naomi Watts looked as fresh as Lavender in a beaded strapless Armani Prive gown at the premiere of “Cafe Society” during the opening gala of the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival. With her shoulder length hairdo, she further accentuated her romantic look with a gorgeous gemstone necklace by Bulgari. Love!
Jessica Chastain attended the premiere of “Cafe Society” at the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival in a refreshing lemon Giorgio Armani Prive yellow bustier gown. The tone of the vibrant Spring Summer colour looked gorgeous against her skin tone, while the interesting bodice of the gown and the beautiful Piaget collar neckpiece added an element of simple yet sophisticated glamour. Her wavy cut and dazzling smile completed the look. Lovely!
Bianca Balti wore a pale blue Alberta Ferretti gown at the premiere of “Cafe Society” during the opening gala of the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival. The strapless ruffled gown featured a dramatic fishtail that swept the red carpet with grace, however, i feel the combination of a black strap and the black lace around the bodice was an overkill.
Beautiful Blake Lively looked breathtaking in a bronze sequined Atelier Versace at the première of “Cafe Society” during the opening gala of the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival. With her small baby bump on show, the fishtail nude gown with its chainmail panels accentuated the actress’s gorgeous figure. She kept it simple with statement jewels, side swept hair and nude lips. Radiant!

As an ex-IBMer myself, keeping up with IBM and its innovations, especially in the field of art and design is something that I hold very close to my heart. At this year’s New York MET Gala held at the prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art, the theme "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology," explored the relationship between fashion and technology. And, it doesn’t get much better than this when the technology giant decided to collaborate with the New York based fashion brand Marchesa’s designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig to create a one of a kind smart dress to complement the idea behind the event.
This year the theme "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology," by Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York re-examined the relationship between fashion and technology. While most of the celebrities got it all wrong, Claire Danes nailed the theme with this gorgeous fairy tale worthy Zac Posen gown.

The worlds of fashion and art often intersect and intermingle, and designers are continually absorbing and assimilating inspirations from path-breaking new artists. African artist Eddy Iluanga Kamuanga is one such artist who creates large scale paintings that are bold, political and graphic. One of his striking works on view at the Saatchi Art Gallery stayed with Urvashi who was visiting London at the time. Featuring a woman in a red headscarf with her back turned to the viewer, it was a powerful image representing the upheavals and challenges of our times.
For her latest collection Karishma Shahani takes inspiration from age old Indian Pahari miniature paintings. Famed for their brilliance of color and minute decorative details this form of storytelling conveys tales of mortals, Gods and nature alike. The paintings showcase ornate translucent fabric clad subjects amidst backdrops of nature. The patterned decorative flowers and their romanticized rendering are reminiscent of enchanted gardens laden with tropical flowers and extraordinary creatures weaving stories of love and mysticism in their midst.
