It’s confirmed: Yves Saint Laurent is returning to Couture business

Now this is exciting! Its official, Yves Saint Laurent is returning to Couture business for the first time since 2002. The announcement comes with the opening of the brand’s newly renovated Couture house. The last Couture collection by the Parisian house was presented at Paris’ Pompidou Centre. The Haute Couture division of the label was shut after Monsieur Laurent’s retirement.

Saint Laurent released a series of images showcasing the recently renovated interior of the famed couture house, a 17th century mansion named  'Hotel de Senecterre ‘ an initiative taken by the Hedi Slimane, after became  the creative director of the house three years back. The atelier will house three separate sections - “L’Atelier Flou" for dressmaking, "L’Atelier Tailleur" for the tailoring and “Salon Couture”, for the selected clients to try the pieces. The campaign Rue de L'Université showcases the ateliers gorgeous interiors with its spectacular chandeliers, classic furniture and XVII century inspired geometric garden.

In a press statement this morning, the company explained. "The ateliers are now at the centre of the Saint Laurent project by Hedi Slimane. The ateliers also produce commissioned hand-made pieces for movie stars and musicians. Hedi determines which of these pieces will carry the atelier's hand-sewn couture label 'Yves Saint Laurent'. These couture pieces may be women or men, a tuxedo or an evening dress, daywear or eveningwear. The 'Yves Saint Laurent' private atelier label is made of ivory silk satin and is numbered by piece. The atelier keeps a strict record of all the couture pieces in a gold monogram book."
